Meet Mike Page – Super Mike!
A good friend of mine – and a regular Hammer Nutrition customer ;o) – is Mike Page. Mike is a triathlete, ultra-marathon runner and terrific guy as well.
Mike had the biggest win of his life the other day with a fantastic run in the Tamborine Trek here in Queensland. His winning time for the 62 km race was 5 hours and 21 minutes. That is flying!
Diversified into adventure racing and rogaining over the last 12 months with some good results.
Raced with Team Mountain Designs at the Arrow 24hr this year which we won in 14hrs 03mins. Beating our closest rivals by 43mins. I used Perpetuem for that race too… ; )
Recently raced at the Warwick Pentathrun and managed 5th overall.
Then the big one – the Tamborine Trek on May 27.
Mike said “I’m hoping to compete in the Glass House 100 in September.
A 100 mile running race around the Glass House Mountains region. Waiting on the results of my psychiatric evaluation before making a decision!”
Ok, Let’s Get Personal, Mike
I work at Morris International – Mail Order Marketing Firm – as an IT programmer/analyst
I live at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast with my partner Mandy and our 2 cats – Chilli and Stormy.
I love competing in the Forster Ironman.
My favourite restaurant is Montezuma’s Mexican at Burleigh Heads. Good Stuff – just don’t stand behind me the day after… 😉
My earliest childhood memory running around the yard on my scooter with a Superman mask on – hang on – I do that now…!!!
My first job was working for my Dad in his panel shop.
A turning point in my life was meeting my partner Mandy. She’s the brains and common sense behind my training and racing plan (and a damn fine gal)…
My favourite place in the world is on top of Burleigh Headland with a ColdRock icecream (and Mandy of course)…
The best advice I ever got was make sure you put your pants on before your shoes….
I’m happy that I have a screw loose. I think you need it to run Ultra’s…!!
Thanks and congratulations mate.
(And thanks to Ian Cornelius from Tamborine Trek for the use of the photo of Mike above.)
