How did you get into the sport?
Fell in love with the process and discipline of training, one thing led to another and I had so much growth within the first year of running. It’s a sport that rewards you for your effort and you are the only person responsible for your result. I love cross country running so throughout high school that was a huge motivator.
Hardest thing about your sport?
The discipline of the training. Sticking to a plan for months on end, without fail, regardless of how you feel to ensure you get the best result come race day.
What does your regular training week consist of?
My training now looks a little bit different to a typical long distance runner. I am a big fan of the gym, and I train like a bodybuilder 5 days a week. On top of that, I run 4 times a week. 1 of the days is a fast interval style workout. 1 of the days is a threshold style workout. 1 of the days is an easy run with a bit of light tempo work. 1 of the days is a longer run. On top of that I am a massive promoter of positive nutrition and fuelling for performance. I track all my foods and ensure all my macros and micros are met for overall performance, however whilst working out it is crucial to give your body the right fuel like electrolytes, sodium and carbs.
How do you keep motivated?
Everyday I continue to push myself mentally and physically. I believe that if you build a mind and body strong enough than you will be able to endure any challenge presented infront of you. I also really enjoy the journey and the process of training and putting in the work.
Goals (Future Plans and Career Expectations)
I am chasing to collect a Guinness World Record in the Sydney Marathon dressed as something random! I’d also love to jump from two extremes and compete in a natural bodybuilding show and in the same week run a marathon!
