Great recovery product, genuinely seems to make a difference to energy levels after a long run and support more intense training blocks. The only downside for me is that the chocolate flavour tastes like Hersheys chocolate - I haven't deducted a star as this is a very personal thing, lots of people love it, I can't stand the stuff!
Very happy with this product, I am an older person (63) and I really feel this helps my recovery after hard training sessions. I normally use the chocolate and have just started on the salted caramel, both flavours are easy to drink. I have the drink in the first 30' after training followed by a good breakfast.
I was a bit sceptical before trying this because I was almost certain that I wouldn't really notice much of a difference, or I would convince myself of an improvement due to the placebo effect. Boy was I ever wrong. I usually do a few hard rides on the weekend, and every Monday I am drained and have sore/weak legs. After having recoverite after my rides on Saturday and Sunday, not only was I more energized than usual for the rest of the day on Sunday, but I was also able to back it up and go for a hard ride on Monday which is unheard of for me. The salted caramel flavour is surprisingly tasty... I blended it with milk, a little honey and a pinch more salt and it was creamy and delicious. Highly recommend. My only regret is not trying this a decade ago.
Recently upped my training levels and paid a lot of attention to nutrition, hydration, stability, and strength exercises. Started to use the chocolate flavoured Recoverite on the advice of others, and found I felt so much more 'ready to go' at the following day's training. Just finished an extended block of 6 out of 7 training days per week, and I religiously used Recoverite within 45mins of finishing. It helped my recovery and keeps me ready to go the following day. Great flavour and taste. It's now a must have in my Hammer products.
When you compete in multi-day events and stage races it’s important to starts refuelling for your next event / stage as soon as soon as you finish the stage, if not during the latter stages of the race itself. I use Hammer Recoverite to get carbohydrate and protein into my system within the “golden glycogen window” i.e. 30 minutes from the moment I cross the finish line. I often add some crushed flax seed for additional polyphenols / antioxidants and omega 3 and chia seeds for some additional omega 3, iron, magnesium and ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Remember: The finish line is the start of your next race!
