Every three tablets of Perpetuem Solids contain 100 calories, they’re super easy to chew and consume, they won’t “go bad” no matter what the weather, and they’re a complete and satisfying solid-food fuel source. You can use Perpetuem Solids with other Hammer Nutrition fuel source or, if desired, as a sole source of calories.
There are two caveats that need to be mentioned:
- Perpetuem Solids are not meant to be dissolved in water. Just chew, swallow, and wash them down with water or any liquid Hammer Nutrition fuel.
- Although the tablets break apart very easily in the mouth, people with dentures or delicate teeth should use caution when using Perpetuem Solids.
Solids are my first choice for fuel during an ultra if I’m self-crewing. They’re no mess, no fuss, and provide the quality complex carbs I need to run for hours.

I have been using High5 for a number of years, but was chatting to her about the ‘high & low’ I get from the gels, especially when training or racing past the 15km mark. Anyway, she suggested you. So, a few months ago I bought a few of the Perpeteum tablet tubes & have been using them in conjunction with the High5 gels – usually 1 x gel to start, then onto the Perpetuem. The change has been significant: the Perpetuem does not have the high, and more importantly does not have the low. Although a little difficult to chew when blowing hard & short of spit, the tablets keep their shape when carried over 500-1000m to allow a slow & steady ‘nibble’, and like a chewing tobacco can be stashed between cheek and gum to dissolve over time. Sustaining the pace over long runs helped me run half marathon pb recently: in 2009 it was 1.24.58, just a few weeks ago I ran 1.23.30 – not what I was expecting at age 45. The better training rate has enabled better race day performance. This stuff makes a difference – like most amateurs, running is not just a physical pursuit, it’s also a very significant part of maintaining good mental health. Keep doing what you’re doing, because it works.
