How did you get into your sport: I started running as a nine year old in Toowoomba. I joined a local group, the Toowoomba Road Runners, and was mentored by some great club members including Albert van der Wyk, Ron Peters and Tom Bradbury. Tom has become my coach again recently.
Hardest thing about your sport: Keeping motivated especially when recovering from injury
What does your regular training week consists of: A couple of speed sessions and tempo runs each week with easy runs in between. I’ll often find a Park Run on Saturday mornings for a hit out.
How do you keep motivated: I just love the sport but setting goal races helps me get out the door when the couch is beckoning. I also enjoy helping out the younger runners in my training group.
Goals (Future Plans and Career expectations): World Masters Athletics 2018
Best piece of advice you have been given: Believe in yourself. And “get a pair of shoes” (I ran barefoot on the road until I was 12).
