Dan Bleakman – Runner
I began using Endurolytes a few years ago when I started to move into long distance trail running. Over the course of many hours on the trails, losing vital salts and nutrients can affect performance hugely, so I needed something to keep those levels where they need to be for maximum performance, in both training and racing – Endurolytes hit the mark perfectly.
Recoverite is an absolute godsend when it comes to getting your body back in order after a big training run, it can be the difference between feeling great the next day and ready to train again, or simply having trouble getting out of bed.
1. What are your sporting aspirations?
To run as many 100 mile races as possible and to one day run the US 100 mile grand slam (4 x 100 mile races in 4 months)
2. Who is your sporting hero?
Martin Johnson, former England rugby captain and new team manager. The guy was just no nonsense, no fuss, total responsibility. If ever there is a guy who led from the front and commanded so much respect from people it was him.
3. What is your favourite race? Why?
6ft Track 45km ultra marathon. It’s a real leveller for most runners because it’s a very tactical race. There’s uphills, downhills, heat, stream crossings and you’re doing this pretty much at full tilt the whole way, there’s no let up. It’s a race that ‘finds a lot of people out’
4. What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Probably not running related right now, but having the opportunity to play against England Schools as part of a select divisional XV back in the UK. I played rugby for 20 years prior to starting running.
5. What Hammer Nutrition products do you use?
Perpetuem, endurolytes, gels, hammer bars, recoverite – basically everything as Andrew says!
6. Why do you choose Hammer Nutrition?
I know Hammer has a solid reputation in the US and quite simply the products work. I love that the Hammer bars are totally 100% natural ingredients too, that’s important I think.
7. Favourite Quote:
“It ain’t about how hard you get hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and still keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done” – Rocky Balboa
