Tips for the Gold Coast Marathon

The marathon course is flat and fast and many an athlete has raced to personal bests here.

The Gold Coast Marathon is also one of the best organised marathons in the world - with Cameron Hart and his team doing a fine job.

Brilliantly organised, great course, superb drinks stations - the only real problem you'll have here that you don't get elsewhere in Australian marathons is the heat.

Tips from Campbell Maffett

Firstly, check out the interview with age group Australian champion Campbel Maffett here - Campbell won the sprint, Olympic and long course triathlon in his age group in 2007 (35-39 yo) and is one of the most respected athletes in the sport.

He's also a terrific runner and is aiming for a sub 2 hour 30 minute at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon this year.
