Michelle literally blew her opponents away with a blistering bike leg of Ironman WA.

Michelle then ran a solid run to record a great win. A newbie professional athlete, after moving here from NZ and giving up her Physio job. Michelle is a great fan of Perpetuem, which she used during the race. Says Michelle, “I only began doing Ironman four years ago on a social basis”.

Great job Michelle! Congratulations from the team at Hammer Nutrition.

Wow!

We’ve had some great feedback from Around The Bay riders about the results they achieved with our products.

Here’s what Dave had to say about his experience:

My name is David Wilde, I’m 40 years old and have just completed the Around the Bay in a Day event in Melbourne.

Even though I have been training for the event, I knew my nutrition plan wasn’t working.

A couple of weeks ago I bonked on a 90km ride, not enough fluids or calorie intake. Not a great feeling leading up to the 210km ride….

I have since purchased one of the Hammer packs and read your book “The Endurance Athlete’s Guide to Success”.

Huge “Mistake” With Spectacular Success

Yesterday I made one of the Top 10 Biggest Mistakes with spectacular success.

# 7 Using Something New is a Race Without Having Tested it in Training.

I made up 2 x 4 hour bottles of Perpetuem and my fluid intake was approximately 550ml per hour.

I felt great all day, and more importantly I felt strong at the end of the event.

Thank you HAMMER.

Thank you Dave. Great story and thrilled our products could help you achieve such great results in the Around The Bay IN A Day so much.

Cheers

David (good name!)

If you’re anything like me, you’ll have a few bikes scattered around your garage or house taking up space.

When you accumulate a few bikes your garage space can very quickly disappear.

Lift Your Bike Onto The Ceiling!

The guy who helps me with this web site gave me a present the other day for my main bike – it’s an ingenious bike lift that lifts your bike off the ground and it hangs from the ceiling.

It’s a simple, yet brilliant concept with a self locking latch being the key (as soon as you take tension off the rope it locks into place).

It’s one of those products you look at and think “What a great idea – why haven’t I seen this sooner?!”

Anyway, if you’re interested in a bike lift then head on over to the site at Bike Lift.

Cheers

I’ve mentioned our fueling expert Steve Born is available to answer people’s questions here at Hammer. Steve is a world authority on fueling for endurance athletes and his information is gold.

That’s information you get free of charge as Steve’s part of the Hammer team.

Below is an extensive article from Steve on the importance and way to ensure appropriate electrolyte support during endurance events.

Cheers

David

Electrolyte Support Information

In regards to Endurolytes, to my understanding, there is some sort of regulation (similar to Canada) that requires that the Australian label to read “maximum 3 tablets” or something similar.

Here in the States we do not have the same restrictions; however, due to space limitations, we list a generic dosage that reads “Take 1-3 capsules per hour during prolonged exercise in hot weather. Extreme conditions may warrant higher amounts.”

Reasons Dosage Varies So Greatly

The truth is that the dose can be anywhere from 1-6 capsules per hour, with a few people (not many, just a few) needing a 7th or 8th capsule an hour. The reason why the dosage varies so much is because so many variables have to be factored in when answering the question, “How much electrolyte support do I need hourly?”

These factors include the athlete’s body size/weight/body mass index, their fitness level, the weather conditions, how well or poorly the athlete is acclimated to those conditions, the terrain, their pace, and …read more

One of the things we pride ourselves on greatly here at Hammer Nutrition is our customer service.

Not just sending your orders out quickly and with a smile ;o) but also for the education we provide on sports nutrition.

You see, we have the advantage of having two of the world’s leading experts on sports nutrition (Steve Born & Dr Bill Misner) as part of the Hammer Nutrition team.

Which means that when you ask a question of Hammer Nutrition, you’ll have world renowned experts giving considered and accurate answers.

All free and all part of the Hammer Nutrition experience.

“…you have outdone yourselves in the quality of your reply”

Dear Steve and David,

Firstly, thank you so much for your very quick replies.

Not only were your responses rapid, but comprehensive. I’ve read through all of your advice, along with the articles you reference, and these respond extremely well to all the questions I had going around in my head. I thought I might be waiting days or weeks for a half-baked response, but you have outdone yourselves in the quality of your reply. You clearly take both science and customer service seriously.

Thanks again for your help. I’m looking forward to testing out the endurolytes, and I think they’ll complement well my other Hammer products. I’ll be happy to recommend your products (and service) amongst the ultra-running community I engage with.

People often ask us how others use Hammer products.

Well, one of our sponsored athletes is multisport event athlete Andrew Renwick.

Andrew’s been kind enough to send through some notes on what he’s been doing and how he’s been fueling up for these events.

Take it away Andrew:

3 weekends ago we took on the Kathmandu adventure race in Glenbrook – a sprint distance adventure race with winning teams coming in around 3hrs. On the Hammer front I fueled solely with Perpetuem (as is my plan for Triple Triathlon later this year) and as per usual it held me in good stead for the duration. I also got to try Perpetuem Solids for the first time

They are fantastic! Well done on a great product, easy to eat, tasty and they deliver.

Yesterday was the Akuna Bay Multisport, an epic event with road riding, kayaking and running around Garrigal and Kuringai National Parks. The race provided another solid test for my Triple Tri fuelling strategy:

Breakfast: HEED

1hr bike leg: HEED

1h15 kayak leg: Perpetuem (2 scoops in 700mls)

1h20 run leg: Perpetuem (2 scoops in Hammer gel flask)

Energy levels were consistent throughout the race and best of all, no GI trouble. Thanks Hammer!
